Signature Wireless Internet - Weather Statement
Signature Wireless Internet (Signature) is a provider of High Speed Wireless Internet Services throughout the Central Iowa area. The majority of this service capability is provided with ground based microwave transmission equipment.
Signature utilizes various geographic ‘high points’ to distribute Internet services throughout the service territory as well as provide transmission directly to user locations. Examples of ‘high points’ include multi-story buildings, grain elevators, silos, grain legs, radio towers and other points of elevation.
The High Speed Internet services provided by Signature are generally not affected by wind, clouds, rain, fog, snow or other weather related activities.
On occasion, the operation of the transmission equipment utilized by Signature is affected by mechanical, electrical, or other disruptions. Signature has recently upgraded the equipment at each of its distribution points to allow for the majority of outage related issues to be diagnosed and remedied remotely. However, there are occasions where it is necessary to dispatch a technician to the distribution site to resolve the problem.
Signature strives to maintain ‘best effort’ service, support and system availability. In the event of a service outage, Signature will communicate the following:
- Message on the technical support line indicating outage effected areas and current status of repair and expected return to service.
- Updated status message at 4 hour intervals or as communicated.
- The outage message will be removed when the outage has been remedied.
In the event that a technician must be dispatched to a distribution point, Signature will adhere to the following guidelines:
- Safety will be the primary consideration when dispatching a technician. Rain, wind, lightening, snow, ice and daylight are all determining factors when a technician will be dispatched.
- Technicians will only be dispatched when it is safe to access the distribution point.
- The same requirements apply to dispatching technicians to residential installations.
